Jun 01, 2019  We're finally here! The grand series finale of Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 The Iron Throne! And yet it seemed rather boring and lackluster?

Game of Thrones, the world’s favorite TV show is scheduled to make a return in April this year after almost two years off-screen. It would be a shame if some game developer decided to cash in on the hype by creating a terrible game whose only relation to the actual series is the name that they share. Turbine Inc., we’re looking at you.

Gameplay

Game of Thrones: Conquest for PC is a interesting clone of Clash of Clans. You can tell that it is nothing new from the second you see the screenshots and icons on the download page. If that was not enough to put you off, you are in for an unpleasant surprise.

Turbine Inc. did just enough to get away without getting copyright infringement notifications. The developers added a few unique touches such as including Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow but that is not enough to make players forget that they’ve already played this game before. It’s basically just Game of War in a new set of threads.

The actual gameplay revolves around doing exactly what Tyrion the Imp tells you to do. The tasks are simple and he’s basically just instructing you on where to go hunt for resources and which strongholds to attack next. None of the tasks are closely related to anything from the actual Game of Thrones universe and you will not be treated to any kind of a deep story-line.

The beginning of the game does a lot to get you hooked but it stops trying after that. Resources become increasingly difficult to find and buildings go from taking minutes to complete to taking hours. The game gets so tedious as it carries on that most people will simply give up on it rather than see it through to the end.

Game of Thrones: Conquest comes close to being interesting when the battles start. The AI-based monsters are fun to interact with but you’ll end up disappointed because many of the battles happen without you even seeing them. All that you get is a field report when the battle is done.

The Good

Completing the tasks is easy at first. You’re constantly leveling up and it is hard to resist playing a game that is constantly making you feel as though you are making progress.

The Bad

Grinding through the same tasks over and over again gets tedious after a while.

The only relation between this game and the hit series is the title. Once you get into the game, it’s just another generic clone.

Conclusion

How many times can the same game formula be rehashed with nothing different about it but the name? This model has been done so many times that only die-hard Game of Thrones fans who do not play mobile games very often will consider buying this game. Making money off of the collectors was obviously the revenue plan for this game because they are the only ones who would be crazy enough to pay for it.

Game of Thrones: Conquest does not deserve your money. It is a blatant rip-off of existing titles and a poor attempt to cash in on the franchise’s name.

Michelle Maxwell MacLaren is a Canadian television director and producer. She has directed episodes of The X-Files, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Westworld.

MacLaren won two back-to-back Primetime Emmy Awards for producing Breaking Bad in 2013 and 2014.

Early life[edit]

MacLaren grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia.[1] She graduated from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.[2]

Career[edit]

'I don't see myself as a female director, I see myself as a director who happens to be a woman.'[3]

Game Of Thrones Season 8

MacLaren made her directorial debut on the season nine episode of The X-Files, 'John Doe', which was written by her future Breaking Bad collaborator Vince Gilligan. She approaches shooting action sequences as mathematical deconstruction and likes using multiple cameras and wide lenses.[3]

She was nominated for six Primetime Emmy Awards, all for Breaking Bad: one for directing the episode 'One Minute' (season 3, episode 7) in 2010,[4] one for directing the episode 'Gliding Over All' (season 5, episode 8) in 2013, and the other four in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014 for Outstanding Drama Series, on which she served as an executive producer,[5] winning in 2013 and 2014. She was also nominated for three Producers Guild of America Award for Best Episodic Drama for Breaking Bad, winning in 2014 and 2015. On the tenth anniversary of the premiere of Breaking Bad, io9 singled out MacLaren among the breakout directors on the series as the MVP, noting she directed 11 episodes, more than any other director.[6]

In June 2014, it was announced MacLaren had signed a two-year first-look deal with HBO.[7]

Thrones

In November 2014, it was announced that MacLaren would develop the script and direct Wonder Woman, the iconic character's first solo cinematic appearance and the fourth installment of the DC Extended Universe.[8] However, in April 2015 MacLaren left the project due to 'creative differences'.[9][10]

She was the executive producer of and directed the pilot for David Simon's HBO drama The Deuce.[11] She was the first director hired and established the overall 1970s tone and style of the show.[3]

In August 2016, it was announced that MacLaren would direct the film adaptation of Kristin Hannah's novel The Nightingale.[12] She was attracted to the prospect of directing The Nightingale because it is a 'muscular' project and the female characters are unsuspecting heroes.[3]

The same year she also directed the ninth episode of the HBO series Westworld. When the directors of the final season of Game of Thrones were announced, several prominent news sites, including Polygon and Nerdist expressed disappointment that MacLaren, the only female to direct on the series, was not included.[13][14]

Wiki

In December 2017, MacLaren visited the Dubai International Film Festival as a guest of OSN.[15]

On January 31, 2018, MacLaren was confirmed as director for the film Cowboy Ninja Viking.[16]

She is developing a miniseries for HBO with Breaking Bad co-producer Vince Gilligan called Raven, based on the Jonestown massacre.[17]
